INDIANAPOLIS — Police are investigating after a person was killed on Indy’s near northeast side Friday afternoon.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a person shot in the 2400 block of North Wheeler St. around 4:45 p.m. Friday. When they arrived, they found a male in outside in front of that location with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound.

Once the Indianapolis Fire Department arrived, the victim was pronounced dead. The coroner’s office identified him as 29-year-old John Jay Saulsberry Jr.

IMPD said they have one person in custody for questioning, and are still trying to figure out their role in this incident.
