INDIANAPOLIS– Police say one person died Tuesday in a shooting on the city’s near southeast side.

Officers were called to the 2200 block of St. Peter Street, near E. Raymond Street and S. Keystone Avenue, just after 1:30 p.m. on a report of a person shot.

When they arrived, they found a man with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“It’s so important for those folks who were in the neighborhood if you saw something to come and provide our detectives with information, we’ve had an overwhelming amount of support from the community, they have come and provided information throughout this city and or county and they’ve been doing a great job I can say with providing our investigators with information which is extremely important whenever we have acts of gun violence,” said William Young with the IMPD.

The IMPS said they are encouraging anyone who was in the area around 1:30 p.m. to call 317-262-TIPS.
