STEUBEN COUNTY (Aug. 18, 2014) – Authorities in northeast Indiana’s Steuben County are investigating after someone found human skeletal remains at Hamilton Lake.

A resident came across the remains Saturday night near the shoreline. Divers from the Department of Natural Resources, Steuben County Sheriff’s Department and Steuben County SCURRT Team conducted an underwater search and found more remains.

There are early indications that the remains may be “archaeological” in nature. Forensic experts in Indianapolis are expected to test the remains Monday.
