Suspect detained after double shooting on city’s east side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 19, 2014) – Indianapolis Metropolitan police are investigating a double shooting on the city’s east side Wednesday morning.

The shooting occurred around 2:20 a.m. in the 5000 block of E. Brookville Rd. When police arrived, they found one victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.  Officers later located a second shooting victim in a detached garage. Both victims were taken to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition.

The victims were identified as Timmy Moorman and Sherman Wagers, both of Indianapolis.

The victims were able to give police a description of the suspect, who was located at another house. Richard Burns, Jr. (pictured above) was taken into custody and preliminarily charged with two counts of attempted murder.

Police have not released a motive for the shooting.
