INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Dec. 17, 2014) -- Upcoming holiday events are expected to bring Christmas cheer, not to mention visitor spending, to downtown Indianapolis this week.
The Circle of Lights will stay in full swing into January, but with Christmas around the corner, time is running out to get your letters to Santa Claus using the Monument Circle "Santa's Mailbox." The last opportunity to drop off a letter in time to get a return note from the big man is Thursday night.
That draw is one of many bringing visitors to downtown Indianapolis this time of year.
Downtown Indy told FOX59 News the holiday foot traffic is a welcome sight to the people and businesses in the heart of the Circle City. A recent survey showed an average visitor spends about $73 per visit to downtown Indianapolis.
Also expected to draw a crowd is this weekend's holiday party on Georgia Street, dubbed City Sidewalks. Featuring Santa Claus and a Kris Kindl Markt, City Sidewalks is a free event running from 5-9 p.m. Friday and 12-9 p.m. Saturday.
