INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indianapolis Department of Public Works (DPW) will be removing bollards situated on the bike lanes along Pennsylvania Street from St. Clair up to Washington Street beginning December 1 as the city prepares for the upcoming winter season.

Bollards are short, thick posts used to divert traffic from areas and roads. The removal of these posts will assist greatly with snow fighting efforts as it allows Indy Snow Force personnel to save time and resources by giving snow vehicles a chance to plow from curb to curb.
A friendly reminder that parking and bike lane traffic will not be affected as a result of bollard removal. DPW asks that residents continue utilizing both parking and bike lanes for their intended purposes during the winter season and that cyclists and motorists exercise caution when travelling on roadways.
DPW Traffic Operations will return the bollards to their original location following the city’s snow season in April.
