INDIANAPOLIS – Drivers on I-70 on the east side had a frustrating afternoon filled with long lines and reduced speeds.
Traffic was slow for much of the day for anyone trying to get on I-465 from I-70. According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, a crash involving four semis only made things worse. One truck ruptured its gas tank, spilling up to 100 gallons of fuel and prompting IFD’s Hazardous Materials Team to lend a hand.
Crews spread absorbent material to keep the fuel from getting into the groundwater.
Indiana State Police were investigating the accident, which was quickly followed by a property damage crash less than a mile away on the I-465 southbound ramp from I-70 westbound.
