Drivers injured after crashing, flipping vehicles into yard

MADISON COUNTY, Ind.—Two drivers were transported to the hospital Wednesday evening after their vehicles collided, causing both to flip before coming to a rest in a nearby resident’s yard.

Police said Chelstie Smith, 22, was driving east on CR 1100 S, when she disregarded a stop sign, causing a vehicle driven by 59-year-old Randy Short to strike her on the passenger side.

According to Sheriff Ron Richardson, both vehicles left the roadway and flipped into a yard on the north east corner of the intersection.

Both drivers were trnasported to St. Vincent Hospital in Anderson, Ind. Richardson said Short had complaints of pain and Smith suffered a bruised hip.
