INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 17, 2015) — IndyCar officials say Ed Carpenter was checked out and released by a medical team after crashing his car in turn two Sunday morning.

Rainy conditions canceled Saturday’s qualifying, and drivers were out on the track by 8 a.m.  Sunday to make up for lost time. Carpenter crashed not long after the track opened for practice. He walked away from the wreckage, looking visibly upset, but fortunately he was fine physically.

Carpenter spoke with Fox59 after the crash:

“These cars are pretty unpredictable with all the changes.  I’m really not going to say what I want to say, but I think Chevy did a good job.  I think there are some other things at play outside of the aero kits that are causing these issues, but I’m not going to say it… We’ve destroyed two tubs right now.  We went from having six cars going into the month and now we have four, and I don’t know if I’m going to be in the 500.  And I can’t say what I want to say.”
