(March 21, 2014) – It’s truly, truly, truly outrageous.
“Jem and the Holograms” are getting their own live action movie—putting them up there with fellow 80s animated hits like “Transformers” and “G.I. Joe” by making the transition to the big screen.
Jon M. Chu—the director of G.I. Joe: Retaliation—is one of the people developing the movie. He says they’re crowdsourcing film elements ranging from casting to costumes in an effort to get fans involved.
“Jem” followed the adventures of Starlight Music owner Jerrica Benton, who transforms into the rock star Jem with help from a computer called Synergy. She and her Holograms protect Synergy from rival bands “The Misfits” and “The Stingers.”
