A 2-year-old girl with a rare form of cancer has passed away.

FOX59 featured Ava Parker last month, when her wish to go to preschool for the first time was granted. She had seen older kids get on school buses and wanted to join them.

In December 2012, Ava was diagnosed with a malignant rhabdoid tumor that grew behind her left eye.

The family reached out to Decatur Township to see if Ava could enroll for just one day. The school granted the request, and Ava got to attend preschool for a day and join other kids on the bus on Dec. 17, 2013.

On the Facebook group page created to provide updates about her struggle, Ava’s family revealed that she passed away Thursday morning:

At 7:03 am 1/9/2014 my beautiful angel received her wings. She fought a long hard battle and continued her fight until her last breath. I thank you all for supporting us during this time and ask to give us space. God Bless
