INDIANAPOLIS– We know Indianapolis Colts fans begin bleeding blue early, so it was only fitting to kick-off the playoff celebrations at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. Thousands gathered downtown Wednesday for the ‘Light the Town Blue’ Community Day.

“This is really our way that we can give back to our fans who have given us so much support,” said Stephanie Pemberton, senior director of community relations for the Colts. “We’re asking everyone to light the town blue. So get your blue light bulbs, put out your blue Christmas lights.”

It was blue everywhere: blue Jell-O, blue cotton candy, even bleu cheese burgers. The first 5,000 visitors also got their hands on a Colts poster and blue glow sticks. Visitors said it was a special way to wish the team good luck on an already fairy tale season.

“Our house gets a little loud,” said Katie Paswaiter, who brought her kids to the event. “We scream touchdown and jump up and down.”

Christina Hunter and her friends decided to bring their kids from the Gymboree to this Colts playground.

“It just shows how strong our community is. Indianapolis is an awesome city,” she said. “It gets the kids involved. [It also] gets them excited about the game so when the adults want to sit down and watch some football, they can get excited about it too.”

Colts players Robert Hughes and Justin Hickman even made a stop to read stories to the kids and take part in a cotton snowball fight.

“It’s awesome to see everybody to just come around the new coach, the new players, and rally around a team that’s really going somewhere,” said Hunter.
