INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 6, 2014)– A fatal accident involving a motorcycle and an IPS contracted school bus has been reported.
Officers responded to 38th St. and Boulevard Place on a report of an accident around 4:30 p.m.
When officers arrived, they discovered a critically injured unresponsive motorcyclist who was pronounced deceased by EMS personnel. There were no children aboard the school bus at the time of the accident.
Jerry Rogers, 28, from Indianapolis, has been identified as the victim.
They found an uninjured but visibly shaken bus driver, identified as 49-year-old Tina Glasco of Indianapolis, seated inside a bus.
The bus, a Durham School Services bus contracted by the Indianapolis Public Schools, was heading west on West 38th Street turning southbound onto Boulevard Place when it collided with the motorcycle. Investigators believe the motorcyclist was heading east on West 38th Street when he struck the bus.
Investigators do not believe alcohol contributed to the accident; however the driver of the bus will be offered a blood draw to test for illegal intoxicants.
Investigators do not anticipate making any arrest in this tragic accident.
