SARASOTA, Fla. (March 19, 2014) – An Indiana University football player who was hurt in a swimming accident has come out of his coma in a Florida hospital, his father said on Twitter Wednesday evening.
Isaac Griffith was swimming with friends at Siesta Beach when a rip current pulled him into deep water Monday night.
According to Sarasota’s Herald-Tribune, a friend acted quickly to save Griffith and pulled him to shore. That friend also performed CPR.
The Herald-Tribune reported that Griffith and his friends went into the water despite severe storms and red flags that warned of dangerous waters.
Griffith’s father, the head football coach at Manchester College, also tweeted the following updates:
Today was a very good day for Isaac! Early this afternoon the doctors gave the orders to remove him from the ventilator and bring him
