FISHERS, Ind. – Launch Fishers officially opened its new headquarters Friday night, with the goal to make the Hamilton County suburb a center of high-tech, entrepreneurial growth.

The opening comes on the heels Friday of a major announcement by San Francisco-based Salesforce, expanding into Chase Tower, adding jobs, and investing millions over the next decade. In 2017, the tower will be renamed Salesforce Tower.

Launch Fishers contains more than 50,000 square feet of space geared to give entrepreneurs a place to turn ideas into businesses.

“Creating organic wealth from ideas and innovation is critical,” said Scott Fadness, Fishers Mayor, “It’s the 21st century economy facing us, and we have to deal with that and create and innovate.”

Fishers started the business incubator concept in 2012, first housed in a library. In March, the new facility opened. It includes office areas for a variety of start-ups and co-working space.

Fadness says the facility has more than 500 paying members and is home to roughly 300 companies.

“They can start up right here in Fishers. They can start a web-based company, a tech company, a life sciences company, just about anything they want to do. Now, we have public infrastructure geared to helping innovators and entrepreneurs do their thing,” said John Wechsler, CEO of Launch Fishers.

Launch Fishers has also received state approval as a certified tech park.

“Indy is a tech hub. We haven’t told our story as well as we could. It’s here. It’s growing, and it’s an exciting time to be in this economy here in central Indiana,” said Fadness.

Fadness and other officials announced Friday that start-ups at Launch Fishers will be eligible for $1 million in investor-backed funds.
