INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (January 31, 2016) — Another violent night erupted in Indianapolis. Five people have been shot in four different shootings since late Saturday evening, including two 18-year-old men.

The first shooting took place in the 600 block of Temple Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Saturday. A 29-year-old male was transported to the hospital in serious condition. Police were able to obtain possible suspect information. Officers said the victim suffered from a gunshot wound, several broken bones, possible internal injuries, and severe lacerations.

The second shooting happened just after 1 a.m. Saturday.  Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a shooting in the 1000 block of Winfield Avenue on the city’s near west side.  When they arrived, they found a car blocking the intersection of 10th Street and Sharon Avenue. The car was unoccupied and the two passenger side tires were deflated.  Two 18-year-old men appeared near the scene. One of them was shot in the hand. He’s in good condition. The other was shot in the abdomen. He’s in serious condition. Both were transported to Eskenazi Hospital. According to an IMPD police report, a person was robbed when trying to buy drugs, and two people were shot in the process.

The third shooting happened at approximately 2 a.m. in the 4600 block of Edwardian Circle on the north west side. Officers said they were patrolling the area when the heard shots fired. A short time later, a woman flagged down officers in the Abington Apartment complex. She told them she and a man were in a car when another vehicle pulled up behind them and started firing shots.

“The male received a gunshot wound to the head,” said Deputy Chief Valerie Cunningham with IMPD.  “It was just a graze wound. He was alert and talking when he was transported to Eskenazi Hospital in stable condition, the female was uninjured.”

According to Cunningham, a stray bullet did go through one of the apartments near the scene. It struck a bathtub, but no one was injured.

At this time, there’s no suspect information in this shooting.

The fourth shooting happened on the near east side of Indianapolis in the 40 block of State Avenue around 4 a.m. IMPD confirmed a 21-year-old was shot in the leg. He was transported to the hospital in good condition.
