Homeowners affected by April’s flooding won’t get help from FEMA.
Property owners in Howard, Tipton and Grant counties don’t qualify for flood assistance despite millions of dollars in flood-related damage.
Homeowners could still get help from other sources. On Tuesday, Gov. Mike Pence requested U.S. Small Business Administration assistance for Grant, Howard, Tipton and contiguous counties.
If that request is granted, the contiguous counties of Blackford, Carroll, Cass, Clinton, Delaware, Hamilton, Huntington, Madison, Miami, Wabash and Wells would be eligible for low-interest loans. Residents, businesses and nonprofits could apply.
Cities like Kokomo and Tipton have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on flood cleanup.
