Former Marion County Sheriff Jack Cottey to be laid to rest Wednesday

INDIANAPOLIS (Oct. 29, 2014) – Former Marion County Sheriff Jack Cottey will be laid to rest Wednesday.

Cottey, 75, died on Oct. 21 after losing his battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral, 1347 N. Meridian St., Indianapolis.

Meridian Street will be closed between 12th and 16th streets from 8 a.m. until noon. An escorted motorcade after the funeral will pass by the Indianapolis Police Department Headquarters, Marion County Jail and Indiana Statehouse.

Cottey, who served as Marion County sheriff from 1995 through 2002, was also a state representative and a Marine.

He will be laid to rest at the Heroes of Public Safety memorial at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Donations in Cottey’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
