Four people were taken to local hospitals after a head-on crash near Alexandria on Friday evening.

17 year-old Haley Brown of Alexandria was driving a van east on County Road 1100 North and drove off the road when she became distracted.

She over-corrected, crossing the center line striking the westbound Jeep Cherokee, operated by April McClead 36, of rural Alexandria, head-on.

Brown was trapped in the van and had to be extricated by emergency personnel and was flown from the scene by PHI Medical helicopter to St. Vincent on 86th Street.

Two other people who were in the van were not wearing seat belts and were also injured in the crash.
