FRANKFORT – The superintendent of the Community Schools of Frankfort is evaluating the status of a high school teacher who was accused of seducing a student.

Thomas Weeks, 46, has been preliminarily charged with child seduction, which is a class D felony. The prosecutor’s office has not filed formal charges as of Thursday afternoon.

The details about the investigation are not being released. Frankfort Police Chief Troy Bacon said they received information Monday and investigated the accusation. On Wednesday, Weeks was arrested. He has bonded out of jail.

Chief Bacon said they haven’t received any new calls from people about Weeks or additional claims. Chief Bacon said it appears this is an isolated incident.

“Anytime someone suspects something like that (is) going on, they need to report it to their local law enforcement (agency) immediately. I do commend the officers, who responded to that that call and the detective who investigated (it). They were right on top of it right away and the goal of an investigation like that is to stop the harm and that’s what we’ve done,” Chief Bacon said.

On Thursday, people in the community reacted to the accusation against Weeks.

“I like him. He helped students in credit recovery. He was a pretty cool teacher,” the student, who wanted to remain anonymous, said.

Weeks is a history teacher at Frankfort High School and coached the boys basketball team. One student said he did not believe the charge. Another student said he suspected something was up.

“I kind of suspected it to tell you the truth,” the anonymous student said.

He continued, “I (have) seen him high-5 girls. (They) would always be around him and stuff. He’d be in the halls and I mean basically everyone like(d) him. He was friendly, but just -for me- touch(y)”.

The anonymous student added, “I hope it’s false, but if it is true, it is what it is and (they) have to deal with it”.
