Frozen vegetables, frozen Asian dinners, granola bars recalled due to listeria outbreak

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The FDA, CDC and state and local officials are investigating a multi-state listeria outbreak that is affecting dozens of frozen vegetable products, frozen Asian dinners, and granola bar products.

The recalls were issued by the following companies as part of the  on-going CRF Frozen Foods recall. Each of the companies issued the recalls voluntarily. No illnesses have been reported, but listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Also, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.


Kroger is removing these items from store shelves and is initiating its customer recall notification system which alerts customers who may have purchased products through register receipt tape messages and phone calls.

The recalled products were sold under the Kroger label or the Kroger P$$T label with “Best if used by” dates listed in the table below.

Kroger is also recalling their Broccoli Raisin Salad over listeria concerns.


Watts Brothers Farms Products

The Best Before Date and Package Code is located on the back of the package above the zipper. The HH:MM portion of the Package Code indicates the time product was made and varies by package.




Trader Joe’s Products

The Package Code is located on the back of the package. The HH in the Package Code indicates the time the product was made and varies by package.

Ajinomoto Windsor, Inc.

In the following tables, all listed products with a Use-By Date of November 5, 2017 or earlier are impacted by this voluntary recall. If the product has a Julian Code Date, then remove/return/destroy that product as well, except for the listed Fred’s Battered Green Beans and the Molly’s Kitchen Battered Green Beans, use the codes listed in the table.




Harris Teeter

These products may have been sold in Harris Teeter stores between October 19, 2015 and December 24, 2015. Harris Teeter asks customers who purchased the products containing the UPC’s mentioned between October 19, 2015 and December 24, 2015 to please not consume the products. Instead, please return the products to Harris Teeter for a full refund.

The recall applies to:

Harris Teeter Frozen Organic Corn, UPC number 7203676395

Harris Teeter Frozen Organic Mixed Vegetables, UPC number 7203676393.

Schulze and Burch Biscuit Co.

The Millville Protein Chewy Bars products were nationally distributed through Aldi stores and the company is recalling the following products. Consumers can find UPC codes and Best By/Date Codes on each package.
