How much are you planning to spend on a gift this Mother’s Day?

Eighty-seven percent of Americans plan to purchase a gift for mom, but they plan to do so conservatively.  Forty-two percent said they’ll spend $40 or less on mom this year, and 22 percent will spend $41 to $60.  Approximately 23 percent are likely to doll out $61 or more, according to the coupon site,

The top four gift picks according to a recent survey, include gift cards, flowers, a spa day or jewelry.  Those gift cards top the local list for two years in a row.

An example of a gift that scored well with moms is the Mother’s Day Bath Package from Olivita Soaps priced for $39.

If bling is your mom’s thing, one website offers a variety of jewelry that could fit her taste.

“I just discovered Blue Nile, which is a high-end jewelry site, but they also have budget friendly options in the $100 and under range,” said Trae Bodge, senior editor for “You can find a lot of sterling silver and gold plated jewelry, and even some pearl jewelry as well.”

If you don’t want to shop online, but prefer to go into the store, and several others companies have mobile apps that will alert you to savings that you can use at the register during checkout.
