Gov. Mitch Daniels and executives from nine companies announced Tuesday new investments in Indiana are expected to create a total of 2,552 new jobs over the next few years.

The nine companies involved include Angie’s List, Atwood Mobile Products, BidPal, Inc., Brunswick Fort Wayne Operations, Café Valley, Inc., ExactTarget, Inventure Foods, Mitsubishi Engine North America and Moorehead Communications, Inc.

Throughout the year, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation worked with 251 companies that decided to expand or establish operations in the state, an increase compared to the previous year.  The 251 companies plan to invest $6.57 billion in their Indiana operations and plan to create 27,858 new jobs in coming years.

“We’ve added jobs at nearly twice the national average for the past three years, but we have seen a significant surge of new interest in the past several months,” said Gov. Daniels. “The best holiday gifts the state could receive are these jobs but today’s bundle is not the last for this year. Stand by for more.”

Indiana ranked second in the U.S. for private sector jobs added over the past month and fifth for job growth over the past year, according to the U.S. Labor Department.
