HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. (March 16, 2015)-- A Greenfield man faces several charges after police say he raped a woman at his home. Johnathan Bean, 26, is now in the Hancock County jail after turning himself in Thursday afternoon.

"That's pretty disturbing, that's not what I like to hear in any case especially not in this neighborhood," said neighbor Edwin Rihn.

Bean is charged with one count of rape, one count of sexual battery and one count of furnishing alcohol to a minor.

"My brother is actually a Marine veteran so I know the values they teach. It's twisted for this to happen," said neighbor Sean Fish.

Indiana State Police (ISP) say they began their investigation in February.  ISP alleges that Bean committed rape, sexual battery and provided alcohol to an 18-year-old Greenfield female while at his residence.

Sources say the teen was a Marine candidate.

According to the Greenfield Daily Reporter, Bean is a local Marine Corps recruiter and a former Greenfield Police Department reserve officer.

"I've met a lot of people at different high schools who have met him and it's odd to that that would happen because they [administrators] pay more attention to that," said an active National Guard member who helps with recruiting. He asked FOX59 to conceal his identity.

He says that he was instructed to meet with potential candidates in a public place or with several people present. He says he would never meet at someones home.

FOX59 stopped by his home and spoke with Bean's wife.

"All I can say is he is a great father," she said.

"I probably  would not take them to your house. I would maybe go to their house to do  paperwork or to talk to their family or whatever. I would never have them come over to your house," he said.

Bean is being held on $200,000 bond.
