Off-duty Hamilton County deputy struck by motorcyclist while directing traffic in work zone

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Late Friday night, authorities responded to the scene of 56th and North Arlington Avenue on reports of a police officer struck and injured by a motorcyclist.

Hamilton County officials say Deputy Scott Jones was was working part time in a construction zone in that area. He was directing traffic when he was hit, and transported to Methodist hospital. He sustained a broken leg from the accident.

IMPD says he motorcyclist stayed at the scene and cooperated with responding officers.  But alcohol is suspected in the incident.
