INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (November 19, 2015) – Many families are planning Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.

For those who struggle to afford a meal at the holidays, help is available through Connect2Help211.

To request food help, a representative will ask for the caller’s zip code and whether transportation is available. Then, they locate nearby organizations to help.

Since October 1, representatives have taken over 1,000 calls for holiday food help; that number is expected to multiply several times over Thanksgiving and Christmas.

“I get some that cry, I get some that are just overly excited because they really thought there was just no other way, no other hope,” said Meyette Griffith with Connect2Help211. “I just feel very relieved that we are able to offer them something.”

On the other side, volunteers and food donations are always welcome at food pantries, especially during the holidays.

Contact Connect2Help211 for more information on giving help or getting help.
