Home invasion suspect shot by homeowner dies

INDIANAPOLIS, In. (December 20th, 2014) – Indianapolis police say a man who was shot after allegedly trying to burglarize a home Friday night has died.

When officers arrived at the home in the 4500 blk. of Devon Ct.,  the home owner told them that two unidentified males had entered his home after one of them viciously kicked in the front door causing significant damage to the front door frame.  The home owner and his fiancé were home at the time.

The home owner retrieved his firearm and fired multiple times at two suspects.  The suspects fled the scene.  The homeowner and his fiancé were not injured.

At approximately 9:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to Community East Hospital on a person shot.  That person was identified as 22-year-old Deandre Twyman of Indianapolis, who was subsequently pronounced dead at the hospital.

It was later determined that the deceased and another known suspect were involved in the earlier incident.

The homeowner was not arrested and is cooperating with detectives.
