INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (December 25, 2015) – Nearly 800 local families in need of a warm meal this Christmas Day got a helping hand.
It’s all thanks to Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery downtown in what’s become an annual tradition of giving back.
Ronald Anderson and his family are among hundreds who say they’re thankful for a warm meal and a kind word on Christmas.
“It’s a blessing,” Anderson said. “It’s great to come out and enjoy the scenery and enjoy the folks that are here.”
For 12 years, Rock Bottom has partnered with local non-profits to host the event.
“There are a lot of people out there that aren’t as fortunate as we are,” said Tony Hiatt with Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery. “It feels good in the Christmas season to give back.”
More than 100 employees and volunteers took part.
Inside the restaurant, Santa and Mrs. Claus handed out gifts and took family photos.
Parents said they were grateful for the care from their fellow Hoosiers in this season of giving.
“Everybody that’s been here has been real nice to us,” said Anderson. “It’s a good experience.”
Any food left over is donated to local homeless shelters.
