INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – {May 22, 2015}   Two quick thinking neighbors helped a woman escape her burning home in the 2400 block of Walker Ave  Thursday night but they were unsuccessful in saving 9 of her 10 black Lab puppies.  Both Steve Lynn and Brandon Mounce  noticed the one story house of their neighbor’s on fire. They pounded on the door trying to get their neighbor’s attention, but when she didn’t answer, they made a decision to go in for her.

They were able to locate her and brought her out safely  then ran back inside to retrieve the pups.  Unfortunately the thick smoke stopped their efforts as they had to leave before finding the pups.  Firefighters later found the dogs had died.

One other person had been inside the home when the fire started but he was able to get out before the neighbors arrived.

Damage to the home is estimated around $25,000 as the investigation continues.
