INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (June 28, 2014) — Hundreds of dogs and cats found new homes Saturday, as part of a new mega-adoption event at the State Fairgrounds.

Ten area animal shelters teamed up to bring more than 700 dogs and cats to one place and adopt them out for just $30.

Each animal is already fixed, vaccinated and microchipped.

More than 16,000 cats and dogs end up in Indianapolis shelters every year and nearly half are euthanized.

The event is designed those animals loving, permanent homes instead.

As of Saturday afternoon, 203 dogs and 215 cats had found their new homes.

Animals will still be out at the Fairgrounds on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the South Pavilion.
