PORT HURON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (January 21, 2016) — Hundreds of tow truck operators formed a funeral procession for a fellow driver in Michigan who was struck and killed while pulling another vehicle out of a ditch.

The Times Herald reports that the tow truck drivers and emergency personnel later gathered with the family and friends of Jason Schultz, 28, at a Port Huron Township church Wednesday morning. The tow trucks came from all over Michigan and from as far away as Indiana and Canada for the service.

The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office says Schultz was killed Friday when an 18-year-old Fort Gratiot man drove onto the shoulder of a road, around the tow truck and hit Schultz, the tow cable and the vehicle in the ditch.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
