IFD rescues young hiker

INDIANAPOLIS — Firefighters rescued a boy who fell and was injured while hiking Sunday afternoon.

The young boy was hiking with his mother when he slipped and fell near a creek, but not into the water. This happened about 600 yards from where the duo entered an apparent hiking trail entry point off of 63rd St. & Meridian St.

The injured boy was unable to walk out on his own. Indianapolis Fire Dept. rescuers attended to his injuries before transporting him from the scene.

According to an I-F-D news release, the patient was packaged into a Stokes basket and taken up the pathway just before 6 p.m.

The boy was transported in stable condition to Riley Hospital for Children.
