Indianapolis firefighters respond to 3 overnight fires

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 11, 2014) – The Indianapolis Fire Department responded to three fires overnight on Friday.

The first fire occurred in the 1400 block of North Kealing Avenue around midnight. That fire was contained to one bedroom and was put out shortly after crews arrived.

IFD was called to a second fire in the 1000 block of Udell Street around 2:45 a.m. The homeowner made it out safely, but the house is a total loss.

Lightning caused a third fire in the 5000 block of Roxbury Road on the city’s east side around 3:15 a.m. Three people were inside the home at the time when they heard lightning strike the roof. All three residents made it out safely, and there was a little roof damage.
