LAKE COUNTY, Ind. (Dec. 30, 2014)- A Glenview, Illinois woman died in a two vehicle crash, late this morning, when she crossed over into on-coming traffic on the Indiana toll road.

At approximately 11:13 a.m. Tuesday, a 2004 Jeep Liberty, driven by Emma Beth Pincus Hartman, 18 of Glenview, Illinois, was east bound on I-80/90 just east of the Indiana/Illinois state line on the Indiana toll road when she left the roadway.

The Jeep crossed over the median onto the west bound side of the toll road and was hit on the driver’s side in the far right lane by a semi-tractor trailer.

The semi, a 2013 Freightliner pulling a box trailer, owned by Advantage Transportation out of Salt Lake City, Utah, loaded with liquor, was driven by Joseph Kelly Junior, 66 of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Kelly was in the far right lane when he could not avoid the Jeep and broadsided it. Kelly was not injured. The load stayed intact but a number of the bottled liquor was broke inside the trailer.

Hartman had to be extricated from the Jeep and was pronounced dead at the scene by a deputy with the Lake County Coroner office. Family has been notified.

Traffic was diverted off at Indianapolis Boulevard for reconstruction of the crash, removal of the deceased and the vehicles. All lanes reopened at approximately 3 p.m.
