IMPD confirms identity of suspect in officer-involved shooting

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 6, 2014) – IMPD confirms the identity of the suspect in Wednesday night’s officer-involved shooting.

The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Andrew Sizemore of Indianapolis.

The suspect is believed to have lived at the house with other relatives.

Additionally, detectives found an undetermined amount of illegal narcotics and other criminal evidence inside the house.

“Today’s events should serve as a reminder of the everyday dangers law enforcement officers experience to bring stability and peace to our communities.  The bravery of these officers, when faced with a deadly encounter, should be commended!  IMPD remains committed to rooting out illegal drugs and violence in our communities and with continued information sharing and collaboration with our community we will continue to make our community safe” said IMPD Chief Rick Hite.

This is still an active investigation and no additional updates are expected until mid-morning.
