INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (October 13, 2014) — A man is in the hospital after being shot in the back early Monday morning.

The shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. near North Tibbs Avenue and Lafayette Road. Officials say two groups of people inside two cars were arguing and one person pulled a gun and fired shots at the other car, hitting the victim in the back twice.

The suspect’s car left the scene and police are still looking for it.  Detectives say the argument started at Tiki Bob’s Bar downtown and led to the cars chasing each other with one being pushed into a fence at the White Castle on 16th and Illinois Streets.

The victim’s car lost both front tires but managed to drive to Lafayette and North Tibbs, where the argument escalated.

Police say the victim was awake and talking when they arrived on scene and transported to Eskenazi Hospital for treatment.
