INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – IMPD detectives are investigating a homicide after a 57-year-old man was found dead on the east side Saturday.

The scene was in the 1500 block of Goldenrod Dr. just southeast of 16th Street and Franklin Rd.

IMPD believes the victim was walking from 16th and Franklin when he later collapsed on a porch.

“Well we didn’t know anything was happening until we went out to the garage to go to the store and we saw the police and the crime scene tape and we were really shocked,” neighbor Arin Schellenberg said. “Super quiet neighborhood. Nothing really happens here. A lot of families, a lot of kids, a lot of elderly. I mean it’s just a really nice pocket on the east side.”

There is no word yet on his age or the cause of death. Residents told police that they saw money surrounding the victim.
