IMPD investigating shooting on northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS, In (December 7, 2014) — Indianapolis Metropolitan police officers were investigating a fatal shooting on the city’s northeast side.

Police were called to the intersection of 39th and Tacoma Avenue around 9 p.m. Sunday.

Callers said they saw a man stagger into the street and fall behind parked vehicles.

Officers found a man shot in the side lying on Tacoma Avenue.

The victim was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital in critical condition. He later died from his injuries, police said.

Investigators say they found a firearm not far from the scene that may be linked to the shooting.

Police do not have any suspect information at this time.
