IMPD: Woman dies after arriving at Riley Hospital with gunshot wound



Indianapolis police arrested 39-year-old Gary Jackson Monday for the murder of 41-year-old Joan Berry, who was dropped off at Riley Hospital last week after being shot, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.


INDIANAPOLIS — A person died Wednesday after showing up at Riley Hospital in Indianapolis with at least one gunshot wound, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

Shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday, police were called to Riley Hospital, located at 705 Riley Hospital Drive When they arrived, they found a woman that was pushed out of the passenger side of a blue car with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. The woman died not long after at the hospital.

Police say around two hours later, officers responded to a report of a vehicle crashing into a pole. When they arrived, they say they found the same vehicle that left the woman at the hospital. They took the man into custody.
