INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – An IMPD pursuit ended in a serious crash on the east side Wednesday morning.

The pursuit started around 10 a.m. in the 2800 block of Sherman Drive when a woman told police she spotted her Ford Explorer, which she previously reported was stolen. Police responded, and a chase ensued.

The chase lasted a few blocks and ended near Sherman Drive and 33rd Street.

An IMPD Officer did a pit maneuver, and the SUV flipped a few times and crashed into telephone pole. One person was transported to the hospital in critical condition, and one person was transported in good condition.

"We just heard this big boom and looked around and looked outside and there was debris everywhere and it was gray and smokey," said one witness.

Several roads and intersections were temporarily closed during the investigation. Police said it's likely the prosecutors office will pursue felony fleeing charges.
