INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead on the city’s near northeast side.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to a report of a person shot in the area of East 30th Street and Caroline Avenue just after 8 p.m.
Once there, a man was found that had been shot and was pronounced dead.
Police said the shooting took place in the vicinity of a convenience store and a church.
The coroner’s office identified the man killed as 34-year-old Carlos Starks.
Police said that while no suspect is in custody, they do not believe there is any threat to the public.

This is the second shooting on Wednesday night, another occurring on the northeast side near 9:30 p.m.
These shootings come on the heels of a violent Tuesday night in Indianapolis.
