INDIANAPOLIS — Two men are dead after a deadly shooting on the city’s east side Saturday evening.

IMPD responded to reports of a person shot around 5:24 p.m. at the Emerson Food Mart on N. Emerson Ave.

Upon arrival, officers found two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim was confirmed as deceased on scene and another was transported to Methodist Hospital in critical condition where he later died.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the men as 26-year-old Jaquareous Rashawn Tyreik Mitchell and 29-year-old Jimmy Jermaine Thomas Jr.

Investigators believe the shooting inside occurred inside the gas station and they will be using security footage to piece together what happened.

Investigators are wanting to hear from the shooter, because they think there could me more to the story.

“We want to make a plea to the individual who’s involved in this. The detectives believe they may have a story to tell that they may want to speak with detectives,” Lieutenant Shane Foley said.

This is the second fatal shooting investigation on North Emerson Ave in less than a week. Just this past Monday, officers found a man shot at the same gas station where he died. Police say was shot in the area of East 30th Street and was brought to the gas station.
