IMS schedule for Friday, June 6

INDIANAPOLIS (June 6, 2014) – Friday marks the start of the Brickyard Vintage Racing Invitational at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

For the first time ever, IMS will host more than 500 of the world’s finest and most historic race cars as they compete on the new road course and run exhibition events on the famed 2.5 mile oval.

Here’s a look at the day’s schedule:

7:00 a.m.         Public Gates Open
8:00 a.m.         Qualifying – Sports Racing & GT Cars built from 1960 to 1972, Group 5
8:25 a.m.         Qualifying – “Big Bore Sedans” and Sports Cars built prior to 1973, Group 6-2
8:50 a.m.         Qualifying – Open Wheel Racecars built prior to 1973, Group 2
9:15 a.m.         Qualifying – Sedans and Sports Cars built prior to 1973, Group 6-1
9:40a.m.          Qualifying – IMSA, GTP, ALMS, WSC, and Grand Am Racecars, Group 11
10:05 a.m.       Qualifying – Groups 3 and 4. Group 3 are medium displacement,
mass-produced sports cars built prior to 1973. Group 4 includes
limited-production Sports Cars built before 1969.
10:30 a.m.       Qualifying – Sports Cars, Sedans, and NASCAR Stock Cars 1973-2009, Group 10
10:55 a.m.       Qualifying – “Small Bore” Sports Cars and Sedans built prior to 1973, Group 1
11:20 a.m.       Qualifying – Open-Wheel Racecars built from 1973-2009, Group 9
11:45 a.m.       Qualifying – Mass-produced Sports Cars and Sedans, Group 8
1:40 p.m.         Qualifying – Sports 2000 Racecars 1984-2007, WSC, and Can-Am cars,
Groups 7a, 7b.
2:15 p.m. –       60-minute Hawk Performance Vintage/Classic Endurance race
3:15 p.m.         Groups 1, 2, 3, 4, 5a, 6a and 8 with 1 pit stop.
3:35 p.m.         Qualifying – Open- and Closed-wheel Racecars built prior to 1940, Pre-War Group
4:05 p.m. –       90-minute Hawk Performance Historic GT /GTP Endurance race. Open to Groups
5:45 p.m.         5b, 6b, 7, 9, 10 and 11 with two pit stops.
6:00 p.m.         Public Gates Closed

TICKETS:  $15, children 12 and under free.

PUBLIC GATES OPEN:  7:00 a.m. (local time). Pedestrian gates open are Gates 1, 6

STANDS OPEN:  E Stand, Sec 1-4, J Stand, Sec 25-30, Infield viewing mounds. Wheelchair accessible seating is available in the South Terrace, Tower Terrace and viewing mounds.

MUSEUM HOURS: 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for fans 6-15 years old, with children under 6 free. Gate admission to the Brickyard Vintage Racing Invitational is not included in Museum admission and must be purchased separately.
