WOLFE COUNTY, Ky. (Oct. 9, 2015) – An Indiana boy and his cousin have been found safe after wandering away from a Kentucky campsite.
Family members confirmed the boys, Adrian Ross, 7, from Bloomington, Ind., and Michael Esposito, 5, Cincinnati, Ohio, were found safe around 1:30 p.m. Both walked away from a campsite in Wolfe County, Ky., Thursday night, setting off a massive search effort.
According to WKYT, rescue teams searched throughout the night on ground and air around the Red River Gorge. A helicopter with infrared equipment was involved in the effort.
The boys hadn’t been seen since 6 p.m. Thursday. They were found 3-4 miles from the camp site. Dogs led searchers to the area where they were found.
Search teams had their work cut out for them; the Red River Gorge has more than 60 miles of trails and cliffs in every direction, according to state police.
