VINCENNES, Ind. — A military museum in Vincennes has met a $250,000 fundraising goal toward a planned expansion of exhibit space.

Indiana Military Museum chairman Jim Osborne says recent pledges of $50,000 from the Vincennes City Council and $30,000 from the Cook Group of Bloomington helped reach the mark. The museum hopes to further boost its plans with a $250,000 matching state grant from Indiana’s Office of Tourism Development.

The Vincennes Sun-Commercial reports the museum’s project would renovate much if its current warehouse into an interactive exhibit space for its collection of military equipment, vehicles and aircraft, including from World War I, World War II and the Vietnam War.

Osborne says the museum is completing its design work and hopes to know in March whether it will receive the state grant.
