INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (February 7, 2015) — February is Black History Month and some Hoosiers came together to celebrate this weekend.

The Indiana State Museum held its annual Sankofa Black Heritage Festival on Saturday.

Sankofa symbolizes the importance of looking back and learning from the past.

Our own Tanae Howard served as the emcee for the event.

The event included music, dance, African drumming, demonstrations and other activities that honored West African and African-American art, history and culture.
