Indianapolis Animal Care and Control names new chief

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 15, 2015)– The Indianapolis Animal Care and Control Department named a new chief Friday.

The Department of Public Safety appointed Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Sergeant Randy Dodd to the position. Former chief Dennis Papenmeier has resigned.

Dodd is a 28-year police veteran. He spent 18 years with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department before the merger with IMPD  in 2007.

Dodd was nationally recognized for the rescue of an abandoned cat stuck on I-465 in March.
