Indianapolis police identify woman fatally shot on east side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (October 20, 2015) – Indianapolis police have identified a woman fatally on the city’s east side Monday.

Police responded to a report of an unresponsive woman in the 2200 block of Brookside Avenue around 6:15 p.m.

When officers arrived, they located the female in a bedroom of the home with apparent trauma to the head, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was later identified by the Marion County Coroner’s Office as Dauntanisha Brown, 29.

The coroner determined the cause of death to be two gunshot wounds to the head, and it was ruled a homicide.
