UPDATE (April 19, 2018) — Tammy Stuard pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 20 years in the Department of Correction with 17.5 years executed the rest of the sentence suspended.

OWEN COUNTY, Ind.– An Indianapolis woman was arrested and charged with murder after a shooting at a Halloween party.

State police detectives were called to the scene at a home on Lampher Farm Road, near Coal City, just after midnight on Saturday.

Investigators believe Tammy Stuard, 52, shot and killed Bradley Jones, 53, of Coal City in his home after a verbal argument.

Court documents show Stuard told detectives she shot Jones with her own handgun because she believed he was going to attempt to hurt others at the party.

She was charged with murder Monday afternoon in the Owen County Circuit Court.
