It’s a mega sports weekend in Indianapolis, and the city is coming out a winner.

With the Indy 500 on Sunday and the Pacers playing in the NBA’s Eastern Conference Finals, it’s a weekend of Pacers and Racers.

The economic impact these sporting events bring to the circle city is a top prize. Two Pacers games on Sunday and Tuesday and the 500 total more than $66 million for the city.

Downtown’s more than 7,000 hotel rooms are nearly full, and restaurants are expecting huge crowds for a weekend that rivals the Super Bowl.

“When you look at parlaying these both together, the excitement and the amount of eyes nationally and internationally viewing Indianapolis on Sunday will be Super Bowl-esque,” said Chris Gahl with Visit Indy.

Each Pacers playoff game generates $1 million in economic impact.

According to a March report from the IU Public Policy Institute, the Indianapolis 500 brings in nearly $65 million from folks in town for the race.
